Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome Spring!! We have had quite a long winter and some strange, unseasonal blasts from mother nature but we think we are on track now!! It is so nice to have warm, sunny days.
Earth Week was a great success with litter pickups, a used book sale and a GREEN DAY competition for fun. Congratulations to the classes that won a free pizza party.
On May 13, we held our annual Jump Rope for Heart event to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. This is always a fun and energizing event for a worthwile cause. The whole school did awesome participating and we had to jump lots to keep warm!!
We have an incredibly busy time coming up form May and June. Come hear our guest speaker, Brittney Rowbotham, speak about the trials and signs of Crystal Meth addiction. She will be at our school on May 22 at 2:10 and again at 6:45 in the evening. Her story is riveting and inspiring - you will be blown away by her story.
I'm Coming to Kindergarten workshops will also be here on May 22 and May 28 - The Ontario Early Years in Port Elgin is organizing this for our students coming to JK next year. Please call the school for more information or The Ontario Early Years Center in Port Elgin.
The S.C.C. is also organizing a Bike Rodeo for many of our students on May 31. Grade SK/1 and 1/2 students will be asked to bring their bikes and a helmet to learn all about bike safety on the roads. Again, more information to come about that shortly.
June will be many year end field trips and outings. It is an exciting time, learning in and out of the classroom.

NEW BUS CANCELLATION WEBSITE The Student Transportation Service Consortium of Grey-Bruce is pleased to announce that school bus cancellations, school closures and school event notifications are now publicly available on-line. A link to the cancellations website can easily be found on the Consortium website at www.brucegreyschoolbus.ca (follow the link named “Bus Cancellation Website”). Cancellations for our school will appear on the page named “Zone 1 - If you would like to automatically receive an email each time a new posting is made just press the “Follow” button at the bottom of the screen and enter your email address.
