Bluewater Student Art Exhibition
Some exceptional student talent from seven secondary Visual Arts programs throughout Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) was showcased for public viewing at Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library. The first ever Bluewater Student Art Exhibition was held from Thursday, May 31 to Saturday, June 2 with a special opening reception on the Thursday evening for students, teachers, trustees, board administration and the public to mix and mingle. Bluewater schools involved in this show were Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS), Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS), Peninsula Shores District School (PSDS), Walkerton District Secondary School (WDSS), Chesley District High School (CDHS), Owen Sound Collegiate & Vocational Institute (OSCVI) and Grey Highlands Secondary School (GHSS).
The reception included a vote for the Board Choice Award, where KDSS student Valeria Contartese's artwork, "Pastel Group of Seven" received the honour. As a result, Valeria's painting will be displayed with the other existing student works of art at the Education Centre in Chesley. KDSS student Shelby Boyd was also recognized at the reception with a cash prize from the Owen Sound Artists' Co-op for her Bluewater Student Art Exhibition logo creation.
At the end of the exhibition, public voting was tallied to determine the People's Choice Award. KDSS student Maxine Pasley was the winner of a basket full of art supplies for her artwork, "Collage Canvas".
