Aboriginal Awareness Week - May 22 – 25, 2012
Aboriginal Awareness Week - May 22 - 25 , 2012

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Aboriginal Awareness Week, an occasion to celebrate Canada's many Aboriginal cultures, including Metis, Inuit and First Nations.  The theme for 2012 is "Looking back, moving forward".

There are a number of school activities happening at Bluewater to mark Aboriginal Awareness Week.  Some of these include daily drumming and Native food samples during Nutrition Break, theatre, workshops, demonstrations and even a Native literature pajama party.

A specially designated week by the Government of Canada, Aboriginal Awareness Week falls under the leadership of Parks Canada.  Please click here to learn more about this occasion's history and meaning.
