KDSS wins Hockey Gold at OFSAA

The Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS) boys hockey team won the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) gold medal in Peterborough on March 24, 2012.  The team began the tournament as an unknown 13th seed from a little town that few people knew.  However, the Knights quickly became the hot topic of discussion as they knocked off the number 1 seed from Tillsonburg 6 - 0 in their opening game.  The Knights worked their way through teams from Mississauga, Peterborough, Fort Francis, Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins to earn a berth in the gold medal game against F.J. Brennan from Windsor.  With a 4 - 2 win, the Knights were crowned the OFSAA Champions for 2011/12.  Overall, the team scored 33 goals while only allowing 8 over their 7 games.  All the while, they represented KDSS, Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) and Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association (CWOSSA) with great class and character.  Congratulations to the entire KDSS team for reaching the pinnacle of high school hockey in Ontario!
